SceneWeaver is what we make when we ask: what would a writing application feel like if it were designed to stay out of your way?
It's a single-window desktop application that holds an entire manuscript — chapters, scenes, characters, locations, items, organisations and the research behind them — and lets you move between them without breaking your flow. No browser tabs. No syncing wheel. No waiting for the cloud to catch up. Windows and Linux; Version 2 is the current release.
- Scene-based outliner with drag-and-drop reordering, on the tree and the corkboard. Restructure chapters and scenes in seconds without ever breaking your prose.
- Built-in tracking for characters, locations, items, organisations and concepts. Find every mention of a person or place in one click, and rename a character once knowing every mention in the prose changes with them.
- Research library inside the manuscript file. Notes, images, saved web pages, quotations and PDFs, each bound to the scene or character it belongs to — and none of it exports with the book.
- Book design that behaves like a book. Front and back covers, title page, dedication, acknowledgements and the rest laid out to publishing rules on export, with a bibliography and contents page that build themselves.
- Citations from Zotero or entered by hand, in Harvard, APA, Chicago, MLA and other styles, with the reference list generated for you.
- Inline images. Drop a picture into a scene and it travels inside the manuscript file and comes out in every export that can carry it.
- Notes that never reach the reader. Leave yourself a note in the margin of a passage or a reminder inside the text; they stay with the manuscript while you revise and are left out of every export.
- Timeline, writing coach and reports for statistics, readability, repeated phrases, style and continuity. Spot pacing issues and continuity slips before your readers do.
- Spelling and grammar together. UK and US English spelling built in; grammar checking through LanguageTool, installed from inside the app in one click.
- Restore points and snapshot comparison. Try a brave revision without fear and roll back if it doesn't work out.
- Exports to Word (.docx), PDF, ePub, HTML, Markdown, LaTeX, plain text and Fountain. Send your manuscript to any reader, editor or publisher in the format they ask for.
- Light, dark and accessibility palettes, including colour-vision-safe and dyslexia-friendly sets and the Atkinson Hyperlegible, Lexend and OpenDyslexic fonts.
- Sample manuscripts to learn from. A full novel, a mystery, an academic paper and the SceneWeaver Guide, written in SceneWeaver itself. New and improved samples reach you from inside the app, and every one is checked as genuine before it opens.

Version 2 — available now
Version 2 is the first release with optional paid tiers. Every tier has the complete feature set; they differ only in how many manuscripts you can have open at once.
- Free. Everything, for up to three simultaneous manuscripts. No card, no activation.
- Student — £29. Unlimited manuscripts for students, with a twelve-month grace year after your studies and a discounted route to Pro.
- Pro — £79. Unlimited manuscripts and free updates within Version 2. A £19 launch discount runs until 30 September 2026.

What we're building next
Version 3 is in development. Its centrepiece is a page view that shows the finished book as you write it — facing pages, real page numbers, chapter openings on the right-hand page — with every export sharing exactly those page boundaries. Progress is written up week by week in the journal.
